There are two kinds of people in this world. There are the dreamers who never do anything about them – and then there are people who grab on tight with two hands and won’t let go no matter what.
Filmmaking is my dream, (and I have the rope burns to prove it). It’s taken a lot out of me, but at the end of the day there’s nothing else I’d want to do. The Initiative Production Company has given me the chance to learn so much and I’m so excited to make The Out of the Woods Project! But what I’m really excited about isn’t just that we’re making a movie, but making a movie with people.
The film is a passion project. Everyone on the team is a volunteer, not because we have to, but because we love filmmaking. It isn’t easy, and it can frustrate you to no end, but we’re out here building sets in the hot sun, making call after countless call and revision after revision, because we love seeing our work come together to create something that we can call ours.
This isn’t a director’s project, or a studio project, it’s our project. And at the end of the day, that’s what I’m going to remember. I’m going to look back at my fist feature film and remember the smiles, the laughter, and tears; when I forget what the movie was even about, I’ll remember the people.
