The Mighty Taika! Why I’m Excited for Waititi’s Thor

Taika Waititi’s Thor short films are getting me really excited for Thor: Ragnarok. Taika Waititi has become one of my favourite director’s recently, and there’s no doubt he’ll bring something unique for Marvel.

What I love about Waititi is how much of a character writer and director he is. He’s not about a cinematic spectacle, but crafting a connection between his characters and the audience.

He often does this in hilarious ways and with outrageous characters, while still maintaining relatability such as the father from his film Boy, or the lovable protagonist, Ricky Baker from Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

I think he’s a perfect fit for Marvel, because a character doesn’t get more outrageous than Thor, god of thunder.
