The Joker is the Worst Antagonist

In a time where flat 2-D bad guys run rampant in popular movies, it’s nice to look at what made the Joker such a menacing villain. Nolan’s The Dark Knight is considered to be one of the greatest movies ever made, and it owes a lot of its fame to its antagonist, the Joker.

This video shows how the Joker is the greatest challenge Batman has ever faced.

In an excellent breakdown of what makes him such a terrifying antagonist, the narrator explores different ideas and methods which were used to bring about his development and how there’s more to the character than just the acting and the craziness.

It was a trip to explore the finer details of why we’re all so enamoured with the Joker. To see what makes him such a good antagonist and how we can create similar creative characters in our own work.
