“Every Best Cinematography Winner Ever” Video is the Best Thing I’ve Seen All Week

This video showing every Academy Award winner for Best Cinematography is wonderful. It’s simple, well executed, and lovely. There’s no voice-over, nor does there need to be one. The music matches well and doesn’t distract.

It’s made in a way which captures your attention and takes you through the history of movies which generations of people have considered to be visual masterpieces.

I love to see the evolution of the visual craft. I learned they gave an award to black and white films and colour films for the same year for quite a few years, which I didn’t catch except on the second time watching it.

Really it’s a delightful video to watch, and see how we have improved visually. We have come quite a long way. At the end it even covers the nominees of the recent Academy Awards, which La La Land won.

So sit down, relax, and enjoy this trip through the brief visual history of cinematography.
