WHY THE GRINCH WAS MORE APPLICABLE AT 22 THAN 12

It was a cold December night in Metro Detroit; I was doing some last minute shopping at Partridge Creek Mall, an outdoor mall known for it’s creative Christmas lights and music. I took one step out of my car and the cold winter wind shredded through me like a knife.

With my coat collar flipped up against the wind, my face going numb, and the snow melting on my glasses I begrudgingly walked into the mall, and like someone’s idea of a sick joke I hear: “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”

    Then it happened.

As I fought through crowds of annoyingly happy people, the song slowly faded out, and what takes it’s place?

“You’re a mean one Mr. Grinch!” I had quite the sobering moment.

“Oh no.” I thought, “I’m the Grinch!”

Since then I’ve made more of an effort to get into the spirit of things, but that’s how the popular movie The Grinch became a life lesson for someone in their 20s.
