There are few commercials today as innovative as Mac Premo’s ad for WeTransfer. I hadn’t heard of either of these names either when I was first introduced to the video.
I was waiting to act in one of my friend’s short films when he handed me his phone and showed me the video. After watching it about four or five times, I was sold. This ad was different than other ads I had seen, because this particular ad told a story in a unique and stylistic way. And he made common things extremely exciting to watch, like something out of an Edgar Wright film.
The sound design and editing both go a long way to shape the ad WeTransfer wanted to showcase. And Mac brought his own colour and flavour to the project by creating something more than a common commercial. He helped sell inspiration. In an ad. I know I was inspired to create something.
I think more ads should do this. More companies should use creatives to sell their products, because when it’s done well, like in this case, everyone wins, the artist, the company, and the consumer.
