This Is The Perfect Example of Great Sound Design

This is one of the most creative videos I’ve ever watched. What stands out to me most is the incredible sound design. Of course that is basically what the whole video it is about.

Kaki Gondi, a music producer went on a journey throughout Kenya to make music out of the natural sounds of Kenyan culture. Together with Dan Mace, they made an incredible video that is both visually and audibly stimulating. Even if the cinematography wasn’t as great, I still believe this would be an awesome video. There are so many different layers of sound that it feels like a real experience. When you can close your eyes and still imagine what is going on then I believe that’s good sound design.

Sound design is important because it sparks imagination in the viewer. So don’t forget it! That’s why this is the perfect example of how we can use sound design in our videos to become better independent filmmakers.
