Hollywood’s Problem With Stereotyping Women

Sometimes Hollywood films and popular movies can trick you into thinking we have better female characters than we’re getting. The quick fix is to hire a popular actress, give her some fun dialogue and that’s all you need from a female character. Take Natalie Portman in the Thor movies, what is she doing there besides giving Thor a really unbelievable scientist girlfriend?

The Nuclear Family tackles this issue dead on in their video Underwritten Female Character The Movie. A fun video that pokes fun at female stereotypes in movies, and subtly tries to get you to expect more from women characters.

So next time you’re watching popular movies don’t settle for your stereotypical female characters.
