Meet the artist of Childish Gambino’s new video

Philly artist Justin Richburg is the creative man behind Childish Gambino’s “Feels Like Summer” music video. It all started with his drawing on instagram of Gucci Mane and Migos shooting dice backstage at a show which featured on an episode of Atlanta, created by Childish Gambino. It includes cartoon versions of Barack Obama, Malcom X, Iverson and other iconic figures playing a game of dice with money and alcohol.

Clearly Childish is a fan of his drawings and work, Childish and his team hit him up to do caricature designs and be the creative director for “Feel Like Summer”. Justin created 63 character designs.

Ivan Dixon was the co-director of the video, character animation was done by Joel Williams, a instagram freelance animator Josh Trot also had his input in the amination process, the background was designed by Andrew Onorato, an Australian animator and illustrator. These were just some of the artists that helped Justin in the process of making the video. With all of the attention to his name, Justin remains calm and collected and says it’s a part of his personality. Even with all the pressure of creating such drawings, Justin said that he is used to doing projects under pressure, that’s sure to come in handy for him. So what’s next? Justin is considering going into comics or maybe even designing for companies, but for now, the creative artist from Philly is still waiting to see where the video for “Feels Like Summer” takes him.
