For most independent filmmakers it can be difficult starting out, especially when you have a low budget. However, that shouldn’t stop you. Sometimes you just have to take initiative and figure things out.
I’ve been working on post-production for Out Of The Woods doing sound design and foley. I started out having no experience, and little knowledge on the software we used. We created our own foley studio and made most of our sounds from scratch, as well as some from a sound library. During the process I started to pick up an ear for it, and started to get a better understanding of what sounded good, and what didn’t. I guess I could call myself a foley artist now. Before working with Foley it didn’t occur to me how important sound can be in film; it brings life and fullness to your project.
So if you struggle with sound or are unsure of how to make it right, here are is an innovative video to help you on your way to making your project sound great.
