This Is What Happens When Cinematographers and Elton John fans Collaborate

Christmas commercials are getting more and more creative in ways of swindling us into buying things. The only thing UK department store, John Lewis & Partners has us buying each year with their commercials is a box of tissues. This year they’re back with a commercial featuring the music sensation, Elton John, and it’s sure to tug at some heart strings.

The beautifully shot commercial takes us down yellow brick road, through the career of Elton John. The cinematography and camera movements seamlessly move you from John’s living room at christmas, to him performing on stage, and all the way back to when he was a young boy receiving his first piano.

There’s no doubt this Christmas ad will get fans pumped for Rocketman, coming out next year. Rocketman of course is the Elton John movie that takes us through the life of the famous rockstar.

Check out the Christmas ad here.

And check out the behind the scenes of the ad here!

Catch the movie next year, give this commercial a watch, and pass it along to Elton John fans, cinematography junkies, and any in need of a heartfelt Christmas commercial.
