One of the greatest popular movies Disney’s created is getting a new look. The Lion King is getting a “live action” remake. I don’t know if you can really call it live action when it’s CGI, but there’s a new version coming out.

For the most part, the cast is all new. I don’t think The Lion King would be quite right without James Earl Jones voicing Mufasa, but that’s alright, because he’s the sole returning cast member.

A Beloved Icon In A New Cast

From what I’ve heard, the overall story will be the same, but there could be some changes. The hyenas were previously called Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed, but for the new film, they’re named Shenzi, Azizi, and Kamari.

As a kid who grew up on the original The Lion King, I’m equal parts excited and nervous. It was such an amazing film I can’t wait to see it again. But at the same time, it was an amazing film, and I don’t want a remake to ruin it.

Overall, I’m holding out that this creative take on a classic story will be as great as the original.
