What Happens When You Translate Music

If you’re looking for one of the latest popular movies to watch, it seems like The Lion King has some mixed reviews. But no matter your stance on that movie, you probably liked the original (or not, I don’t know what you like).

If you like the music, you probably know that one of the iconic songs “The Circle of Life” begins with something other than English. It’s in Zulu. What does it mean?

We’re not gonna do the responsible thing and look it up on the internet and look for qualified sources to give us that information. We’re gonna use Google Translate instead.

–Malinda Kathleen Reese, Translator Fails

Well, that’s what happens in this video. Malinda Kathleen Reese, the creative behind Translator Fails, took the lyrics of “The Circle of Life” and ran it through a number of layers of Google Translate then brought it back to English. This creative video is the hilarity that came out again.
