Stranger Things has quickly risen in the rankings as one of the most popular innovative original series Netflix has to offer, and for good reason.
**Spoiler Alert** If you haven’t seen the latest season, or haven’t finished it yet, I would suggest you finish the season before reading further.
Since its debut in July of 2016, it has enticed its audience with creepy imagery, powerful characters, and an incredible storyline. It’s no wonder why the fourth installment has been in high anticipation.
With the tragic death of Hopper in the third season, fans were under high speculation whether or not it was a farce, and now that the teaser for the newest season has been released, we have finally gotten some answers.
From the teaser, it’s clear Hopper is alive and has been taken hostage by Russians. **insert delighted screams of fans**
But what does this entail for the coming season?
Given the time period the show takes place, it’s possible we may encounter obstacles surrounding 1986’s Chernobyl disaster, since season three left off in the summer of 1985.
On top of that, it seems we will get new plotlines outside of Hawkins, since at the end of season three, the Byers and Eleven moved away. So we may very well get introduced to some new faces along the way, which could open the door to exciting new problems.
Also, since Eleven has left Hawkins, that means those remaining in Hawkins just might be at higher risk if the creatures from The Upside Down have anything to say about it.
Overall, this new season is looking to be quite the emotional rollercoaster.
The Duffer Brothers have stated the season is sure to be the “biggest and most frightening season to date”, so buckle up everyone we’re in for one heck of a ride!
It seems we’re going to be graced with its brilliance either later this year, or early in 2021, so we still have a ways to go but thankfully production has already started for the current season.
It’s also been speculated this season might be split into two parts given the send off the Duffer Brothers are wanting to achieve.
Send off? What do you mean?? Well, unfortunately, just that.
While Stranger Things has been confirmed to have this fourth installment and there is the potential of a fifth, the chance of further seasons is unlikely.
When interviewed by Vulture, Ross Duffer was quoted saying it’s “a four-season thing and then out.” Shawn Levy, the series’ producer also stated, “The truth is we’re definitely going four seasons and there’s very much the possibility of a fifth. Beyond that, it becomes I think very unlikely.”
As a huge fan of the series myself, this is quite tragic to hear, but I trust the show will be given the send off it deserves. That’s mainly why season four might be split into two parts.
I have no doubt that the coming season will blow us away once again, and whenever the day comes for the book to close on this creative series, I’m sure it will be one that will satisfy.
