I didn’t used to, but these days I really love a good and creative horror movie. My relationship with horror was forced on me by friends in high school, whether it was being outvoted at the theater to see all of the Paranormal Activity movies in theaters, or being outvoted at blockbuster and renting The Human Centipede. Eventually I developed Stockholm syndrome and now I never miss the latest horror flick.
Now I’ve seen so many it takes a good deal for me to get scared after being so emotionally scarred and it’s why I am super excited for Hereditary. A movie that holds some emotional and psychological weight behind it, Hereditary isn’t out to make you jump, it’s out to terrify you to your core. Who wouldn’t want to see that?
Overall, Hereditary looks like it’ll be a fun, scary romp that makes a more creative use of scares than many before it.
