How To Stay Healthy On Set

As a full time filmmaker I spend half of my time at a desk and the other half shooting with a film crew. In one environment I am slouching at a swivel chair for hours on end, and in the other I am lifting heavy equipment to and from a location. In both of these times, it is important to take care of your body.

We want to focus on filmmaking but we need to take care of our bodies so we can continue making films! I stumbled across this video which highlights the importance of posture in our everyday lives as creatives. This guy learned the hard way that he needed to be mindful of his body. If you want to keep your body in shape then remember to stay balanced, keep moving and stretch regularly. Oh, and invest in a backpack rather than a single strap bag.

P.S. A note to all independent filmmakers, stay away from the donuts at craft services.
