Why It’s Important To Understand Your Character

We as filmmaking creatives understand the importance of a strong story, but do we understand the importance of a strong character and how to create them?

YouTube channel, Tyler Mowery, posted a video about creating a dramatic character and what elements are needed in order to create a character that is strong and engaging.

This video is quite interesting in that it shows the importance of not only story, but the strength your characters, especially your protagonist, truly have in driving the plot forward.

As an aspiring screenwriter myself, this video was a good look into the depth that characters bring to a film and how to begin to flesh out ways to create truly engaging and dynamic plots driven by a strong protagonist.

If you are interested at all in understanding the power of character building, give this video a look and hopefully it will give you some inspiration towards your next story!
