A Behind The Scenes Look At The Remarkable Use Of Lighting

Breaking tradition, the creative minds behind Netflix’s Klaus have given new life to a familiar medium.

Created in 1906, animation has been around for over 100 years. During that time, styles have changed and advances in technology have given us the ability to step away from the flat platform and create 3 dimensional films.

Klaus takes the medium a step further.

The film, from an audience perspective, looks 3D but in fact is 2D. The way this effect is achieved is from the study and application of lighting and shadows. YouTube channel, Insider, posted a video giving a behind the scenes look at how Klaus came to be. It’s a captivating showcase of the immense skill and determination of the film’s creators. Give it a look to see the incredible talent of the creatives behind Klaus.
